After Evenity..what’s next ?

Has anyone heard of good options after the 12 months of Evenity are over? It has to be a med that will maintain the new bones….anyone at the stage of this second follow up?

In the UK, it's recommended to either go onto a bisphosphonate or onto Prolia. If you switch to Prolia, if/when you stop that you have to go on a bisphosphonate!

My doctor has advised that I'll need to go onto Prolia for 3 years (so, 6 injections likely, one every 6 months). I'm actually hoping to do only 2 years but we'll see. Then, once Prolia is done, there will be ONE injection of Reclast. I'm not happy about any of it but the calcium, vit D, weight bearing exercises didn't work for me at all. I've had 5 Evenity shots thus far.

Are you ok with the evenity no side affects? Were you concerned at all about going on it since it has only been out since 2019

I've had 5 injections of evenity with no issues so far. I remember reading on here that someone had a problem after the 11th injection and stopped then but I'm hoping for the best. And YES, I was/am very concerned about all of these meds .... I fought going on them for several years. In fact, since I waited so long, when it was "strongly" recommended that I start treatment, I couldn't do the Fosamax (which I didn't want to do anyway because of stomach, esophagus issues I had read about) because the doctor said it would really have no impact for me at this stage since my numbers were so bad ....... so evenity was recommended to get the best outcome. I am just praying for the best and hoping that it won't turn out to be a mistake.

May I ask what your numbers are? I have just started Fosomax. Hoping it will help. My spine is 3.5, hip 1.7, femor 2.5. I am 71yrs. Diagnosed 10yrs ago. Fought meds, tried diet, exercise. Afraid to take meds…afraid not to.

Hi, spine -4.0, femoral neck -3.2 and hips -3.0. I just turned 60. Finished Evenity in May and will have first prolia injection this month. I waited too long before doing anything so fosomax wouldn’t have done me any good according to my doctor. 🤷‍♀️. Hope it works for you! This is quite the journey.

Yes quite a journey indeed. Hard to know the best path to take but always feel good to share experiences. Wishing the best for you on your road ahead! Thank you.

i've read in a study that 2.5 years of prolia followed by (something like reclast) is successful

Hi I just finished.. got two drs saying take either Reclast or Prolia next to hold what you gained..The problem: I have to have some dental work & must choose between an implant ( but my bones are iffy so they would have to do things to get there making it more expensive and more time…or do partials..faster…and I’m thinking no bone issues maybe? I read on these posts I need 6 to 8 wig distance before I start a new med….docs don’t know much ..how do I decide..so stressful !! Thanks for asking..

good to hear from you, hope it has helped!, from what one of Mum's specialists said, the last 3 months of evenity gains plateau out and it's just maintenance of gains;

i hadn't known about the 6-8wk rest after evenity,

good to know...

another 2 specialists i corresponded with said for my Mum's case that evenity might'nt be of much benefit and they reckoned just stay with prolia.

so difficult to decide on dental work;

would now be the time to get it done?,

then you're clear to do bisphosphonate or next thing.

need to book something with dentist.

my Mum had tooth extraction and dental surgeon said wait 2 weeks for healing, then prolia dose. i think that would've been fine.

(endo said you can wait 4 weeks (this is terribly wrong in my Mum's case),

so Mum picked 3 weeks delay, and i thought that was a good choice, and i wish she went with the 2 week delay)

I too am interested in your dexa results. I finished my evenity in April 2024 & waiting till July/Aug for my dexa test as dr recommended. We all need prayers🙏😉feeling like we are paving the way for future women & hoping for the best!

are you happy with your doctors? i understand evenity has to be followed with the next 'treatment' or drug, to maintain any gains,

don't wait too long?

Just got an appointment for my Dexa in July, hope the results are good. Should know more by then & then supposed to start Prolia. But had trouble with Prolia in the past, so need prayers.

yes, prayers; from my reading, it should be followed up sooner than 3 months; and i don't quite know why the wait for a dexa scan; it should've been planned what's next;

then there should be a plan for what to do if you had a prolia dose, had ill-effect, and had to stop...
