Evenity side effects

I would like to hear from people that have been on this drug. Do you have to take it at the exact same time every month? What happens if you’re traveling. Also, what are the side effects? One thing I read that made me very nervous. Was the black box. Warning of heart, attack or stroke. And the side effect I read about of brain fog. I would greatly appreciate any guidance. People can give me as to whether I should. I should not take this. I’m very nervous about it for some reason. I took Forteo for two years, but then it was in 2010 and they didn’t now put me on something else afterwards so I lost all the bones that I had gained. I’ve had two years of re-classed but my bone density is not getting any better. It is getting worse so now they recommended this drug.

I'm now on Evenity after many years of other bone drugs. I couldn't take Forteo because I've been radiated (cancer treatment), but Fosamax & Prolia in a couple of forms. Nothing was successful. I get two shots as one shot can't hold all the med every 4 weeks for a year. Yes, my doc & I discussed the heart attack & stroke risk but decided it was worth it. I have 3 or 4 months left & have had no side effects at all. No brain fog.

Would you mind sharing your t score.

I am not on evenity but sometimes wish I was . I was offered evenity or Tymlos by my dr and I then asked my dr to choose and he chose Tymlos.

I accepted it bc I thought if I can’t handle the side effects I can drop out bc it’s daily shots. I don’t really like it but I’ve learned to live with it.

thanks for this information. I was on for Forteo for two years when I had to inject myself in the stomach. What happened was I began it in 2008 and when I ended it in 2010 I guess I had a bad rheumatologist at the time and she did not tell me that I needed something else to keep my bone density. So I just took vitamin D and my calcium. Subsequently, I’ve now found out that everything I got from Forteo was lost. I think the drug you’re on may be the new Forteo. My advice to you is when you are done. Be sure they put you on something else so that you will be able to maintain the bone you gained from using the daily drug.

That happen Ed to me too. After taking Forteo and building bone nothing was offered after 2 years on the meds. Now I need to start Evenity as all bone density I gained has been reversed. Ugh!

Hi, I took Evenity for a year at age 69. It did a great job of increasing my bone density. But you can only take it for one year. It is a shot in each arm every month for 12 months at about the same time. The shots burned for a few seconds but the sensation disappeared. My arms hurt in the injection area for about a week then went away. I had muscle pain in my back but not unbearable mostly when I walked. Evenity has to be followed up with another medication or the increase will go back to the starting point. I hope this helps.

Hi Healthymb, it looks like you had forteo therapy from 2008-2010, and didn’t have a follow-up drug afterwards. If you don’t mind,, could you share your Dexa readings before and after forteo? If you had annual or bi-annual Dexa scan, could you also share those Dexa results after forteo, and before your Reclast treatment? I know it’s a lot to ask. I’m trying to figure out how long it will take to lose forteo’s gain without a follow up med.

I’m also thinking out loud here, other than evenity, does your doctor recommend repeat bone building drugs such as forteo or tymlos again at this point?

Wish you the best with the new treatment!

The heart effects are only for caution for those who have had heart issues..( maybe see an endocrinologist…they seem know more that a regular RA or Osteo doc I think) ) But sometimes they just can’t tell if tight muscles are caused by Evenity…too new ! I did gain by 17% in my hips…great progress she said. The Dr you had should really have made sure you followed one Ned with another to hold it so it wouldn’t be lost…(consider changing?) or checking with another one. I used two Endos. To ask questions to…but too similar…didn’t get much…but the idea is good I think…maybe you can get a 2nd opinion! Good luck…please let me/us know!
