Spine deterioration

I had a cat scan for stomach problems and the radiologist reported that I have deterioration on L3 and 4 with a wruble ( not sure the spelling as I have never heard this term ) on L3 and S5 is getting worse. I don't take medication for osteoporosis due to potential side effects and chronic digestive problems. Its a tough decision. Has any one heard of a wruble ? I wonder if it is possibly a cyst? I have had upper back pain for a long time and just try to manage it. I will follow up with my primary, but they keep pushing prolia injections and I really don't want to do that. Best wishes everyone.

I've never heard of a spinal wruble. There are so many things it could be that it would probably be best to ask your doctor exactly what it is. If it's on L3, that's your lower (lumbar) spine so wouldn't explain your upper back pain. Deterioration could simply refer to degeneration that we all get to a greater or lesser extent as we age, and therefore not necessarily anything to do with osteoporosis.

I took Prolia and other than a headache for a few days did fine. My doctor and I decided together to switch to reclassify, a once a year infusion. I didn’t want to be on Prolia forever so this is a better option for me. You can go off of it in 3-6 years. Both my sisters in law have taken it and did well.

I also have done Reclast infusion and had absolutely no side effects. So glad I finally did it as I procrastinated for a long time due to fear. Now just two more times in the next two years and I’ll be done!

I am glad to hear some positives. I hear so much negative that it is hard to make a decision. I hope to do it naturally, but with digestive issues as well I know I am not getting enough bone nutrients.

Hi, You might consider consulting w/ an acupuncturist, as acupuncture can treat digestive/stomach concerns. Good luck!
