Has anyone taken Evista for a year or more? If so, did your osteoporosis improve, stay same or get worse? Any side effects? Thanks, this was prescribed for me and after much thought and great hesitation due to possible side effects, I recently started it.

I refused because it does not prevent hip fractures. Look up hip fracture and Raloxifine.

Thanks for your info. I read the info and will ask my doctor. She was more concerned about my spinal area., but it would be better if it helped both!

Hi, I took Evista for 6 years following 2 years of Forteo. I liked using the Evista as it didn’t bother me at all unlike Boniva which had given me GERD in the past.

The 2 years of Forteo had brought me back to osteopenia but unfortunately I started slipping back with the Evista and was 2.9 in my spine after the 6 years.

I just finished my 2nd time taking Forteo (back to osteopenia again) and am now going to do a shot of Reclast soon to keep my gains. I’m not thrilled about taking Reclast but I don’t want to lose the gains I got from Forteo again. My doctor told me that Evista is the weakest of the meds.

I hope you do well on Evista, I wish it had worked better for me.

Thank you so much for your reply. I'll check to see if I improve or decrease bone density after 18month to 2 years on it. Then determine if I continue or change to something else. I'm trying to avoid meds which can make GERD worse.
