I'm 62 and have been doing CrossFit for 10 years (modified). My osteoporosis has gotten worse, especially in my spine. Does anyone have a solid recommendation for training / running shoes for people with osteoporosis in spine area? Kay

Work out shoes for osteoporosis in spine area
I bought a pair of ASICS trainers and really like them. I had developed plantar fasciitis at the time and the ASICS are very supportive and well padded.
The physio I saw about my sacral fracture last year said to be sure to wear shoes with good padding so I’ve got them and I now use sorbothane heel pads in all of my shoes.
I walked into town last week in a pair that didn’t have the inserts in them and boy could I tell the difference in my spine so it would be worth trying something like that too.
I only walk though so I can’t say how they’d be for running - not sure my back and sacrum would be up to running more than the odd few yards.
I’m 65 with OS of the spine. I started lifting weights and realized I needed shoes with better support. I am very happy with QC Cloudswift shoes. The shoe my holds my heel in place and keeps pressure off my toes.
In replies, ppl seem to be recommending shoes w/ extra support. I was curious about what shoes are best for building bone and found this melioguide.com/perfect-post... I haven’t yet purchased a pair of minimalist shoes but I am considering getting these Xero Shoes Women's Prio Cross Training Shoe - Lightweight Zero Drop, Ba... amazon.com/dp/B07WDYQ58D/re... I actually posted about minimalist shoes several weeks ago (not sure if it was on this website or Inspire.com) to see if anyone else had tried them for osteoporosis related reasons. One person recommended that I see a podiatrist before buying a pair, which I’m considering doing—I’m flat footed so I don’t want to do anything that will do more harm than good.
Please look into Hoka shoes. They are a bit expensive, but worth every penny. I don't know what state you live in, but here in Kansas we have Garry Gribbles running sports. If you can find something similar where you live, they can help you get the correct shoes. They will watch you walk and then suggest a certain HOKA for you. These shoes changed by life and will change yours. Famous foot ware carries them, but they just sale and not evaluate your walk and that is an important key to fitting the correct running shoes you want.
Brooks seems to work well for me as they have wide withs .
Thanks for the replies! It really helped me narrow down my search.
Hello,I do CrossFit as well and I recommend shoes that are zero drop. They help with balance, especially when lifting with the barbell. They work well for running short distances as well. One brand that has worked well for me is called Xero. They have several shoes- my favorite is called 360. I wear them everyday as normal footwear and then to the gym.
