Does anyone know if I can ever get "Invisalign" (or similar dental braces)if I had took Reclast Infusions? I was told not to do Invisalign if I had taken Reclast. There is a major risk of necrosis of the jaw. I wonder if there is a time period to wait after last inusion or is it forever?

Can I have dental braces if I took Reclast?
Hi Berniz, have you discussed this with an orthodontist and the health care provider who prescribed Reclast? The risk of ONJ is highest for people taking IV bisphosphonates for cancer treatment. They are likely taking larger and more frequent doses than someone being treated for osteoporosis. ONJ is also associated more with oral surgery and than with orthodontics.

In general, if your bone loss is not severe, and the bone is stable enough to persist in Invisalign treatment, you will likely be able to have Invisalign. My elder sister had taken Fosamax for three years and she had minor bone loss. And her existing bone loss does not make her Invisalign treatment impossible. Her dental expert [ guelphfamilydentistry.ca/de...] advised her to follow some steps before undergoing orthodontic treatment and I can say her Invisalign actually, helped her to stimulate bone growth in areas damaged by periodontal disease.
