I was recently diagnosed with -4.5 osteoporosis in the spine. I am 62 years old. I am not s fan of pharmaceuticals and have started taking calcium, D, multi, and magnesium. I jog about 20 miles a week and lift weights. Been a runner all my adulthood with marathon running. I am a small bone woman with osteoporosis in the family. Going to start acupuncture and Chinese herbs this week. Has anyone experienced reversal of t score with acupuncture and Chinese herbs????

Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs for osteoporosis.
Be very careful of Chinese medicine as they are often contaminated. Some being used for pain actually work - because they contain steroid pain medicine, although that is not told to the user.
Hi DeeK1, one thing we have been discussing lately at American Bone Health is that because DXA is a volumetric measurement, a person who is small/slightly built/petite can have an alarming T-score but might not actually be at high risk of fracture. When you say you have a family history of osteoporosis, does that include people in your family have had hip fractures etc.? Or just T-scores in the range of osteoporosis?
I encourage you to use our Fracture Risk Calculator tool to get a fuller picture of your fracture risk. americanbonehealth.org/calc...
Hello Mark, thank you for replying. The family members with osteoporosis have not suffered from any hip fractures. Information is from T score - and these women are all small bone women.
More I research the more I agree there is something out of whack with expecting all women to have the same bone density. Are there any articles you can direct me to all this subject??
I did do use the Fracture Risk Calculator giving me an 11% chance of fracture within 10 years. Pretty good odds I would say.
Thanks again.
