Different kinds of Vitamin D

I recently heard that there are different Vitamin D's necessary for the body, most especially for bone growth. What are the differences, if any, between Vitamin D2 and D3? What are my best sources for them?

Thanks!

D3 is the "sunshine" vitamin which we need to form bone. I take it with my Forteo. Available in drug stores. etc. in tablet form.

Make sure when you're buying a supplement that it's D3 as sometimes this isn't the case. If it doesn't specify D3 I'd be suspicious.
