I was diagnosed about 2 years ago with osteoporosis. I have compression fractures of T-11 and T-12. I am going tomorrow for Dexa scan. I currently take 1,000 MG of vitamin D and Viactive calcium chews. I have been reading here about vitamin k-2-mk7. Where do I purchase this? I will not take any of the prescribed meds. for osteoporosis, they scare me! I am trying to improve my bone health naturally, so any good advice would be appreciated!

New Chapter makes a very good calcium supplement with all the special additions such as K2 and MK7. If you take 1000 mg at once the body can not absorb it. New chapter comes in smaller doses which one takes 3X/day. They also assume that you will eat calcium in foods as well such as dairy.
Hello RIO-heart, I’ve been taking vitamin K2 as MK-7 for several years now. At first it was hard to find, but it’s become more popular and easier to find. Now it’s even available at my local Walmart. If you don’t find it locally, a good source for vitamins and supplements is Vitacost.com. They have different brands to pick from as well as the Vitacost brand. Amazon also carries a good selection of K2-MK-7.
I actually get mine at Walgreens.
I get my Vitamin with Vitamin D/MK7 thru Native Path. It’s an online company with Dr. Livingood. Have been really happy with all of their products. I also get their Collagen Peptides. Go online and check it out. I hope this helps.

I use Vitacost for most of my supplement purchases. Once you get into their system, there are always specials running-usually 15% off for one thing or another. I try to wait until the specials (a lot of time there is 13% off entire purchase) and then order everything all at once so I can avoid shipping charges.

When choosing a brand, if you have access to Consumerlabs, they review supplements. You can purchase a subscription, or it can be free through your library if they subscribe to it. It is similar to when you see a USP certification on a vitamin. Both of those organizations review the vitamins to make sure contain what they say they do. They do review OP supplements.

I researched them on consumerlab.org. I check out all supplements there to make sure the ingredients are legit and no heavy metals, etc. contaminating things.
Oops ... that was the bone health supplement up there. Here is the K-2... it's mk-7 and made from Nanno.

I haven't taken the bone restore b/c it has 300 mg of magnesium. I have started a separate magnesium- only 100 mg and sometimes it causes multiple trips to the bathroom, so I am not sure what to do. Maybe take it only a few times a week instead of every day and see if I can work up to 300 mg. This stuff is so complicated!
Try magnesium glycinate (or bisglycinate) as it's less likely to lead to digestive problems. Don't forget that magnesium is readily available in food (it is to green plants what iron is to animals, being a central part of chlorophyll like ironis to blood) so you may not need 300 mg a day, although it is a good idea to take it at a separate time from any calcium supplements as calcium can interfere with its absorption. My supplement is 200 mg once a day.
I am glad you told me about taking magnesium separately from calcium. So much to learn about all these things!!
I read that a calcium supplement, as it contains more calcium than a food would, can interfere with absorption and that upsets the balance, because the body will always "prefer" calcium. It's always fun trying to balance things with calcium. At one point I had to take a liquid iron supplement. You can't take that with calcium either. At the time I was taking pred once a day (no calcium with pred but thankfully okay with iron) iron twice a day (which shouldn't be taken with calcium) and calcium three times a day. Almost needed a spreadsheet. I'm glad I wasn't taking magnesium then!
