Eight weeks on Lanzerpole

I had eight weeks on Lanzerpole for reflux symptoms, tight throat chest, throat clearing , ear pain, post natal drip, I now have just throat and top of chest burning after eating. I am hoping that it is subsiding as I just have the throat burning and top chest and the others have subsided. I feel a bit anxious as the doctor I felt thought that the Lanzerpole should have done the job . From what I have read on this forum it isn't always a quick fix. I am now back on gaviscon as I will have an endoscopy. Have other people experienced this where some symptoms still remain ?

What dose are you on? For LPR reflux, starting dose is often 30mg twice a day.

And very important is that you take it on an empty stomach 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast and dinner, otherwise it can lose much of its effectiveness.

If you're not doing this, that would be my suggestion as a next step, based on both published guidelines and personal experience. Of course, get your doctor on board.

I was taking 30mg twice a day about an hour before meals , I then came off of them after eight weeks for a hypolri test which was negative ,I just wondered if they should have solved the problem but didn't totally

Next step might be trying another/stronger PPI like Dexilant. When 2x/day dosing of a PPI similar to Lanzerpole didn't work for me, I found relief with 60mg Dexilant once a day. Unlike other PPI's, Dexilant can be taken with or without food, i.e anytime although I did at times take it 30-60 minutes before a meal at times just to give it the best chance.

If that doesn't work, then you might have some PH and motility testing done to see if it's actually acid reflux and/or non acid reflux and/or a motility issue. \

Lastly -- at any time -- there are lifestyle interventions such as smaller meals, avoiding trigger foods, not eating close to bed time, losing weight if needed, etc, etc.

Lately, I started having very bad heartburn at night that seemed immune to PPI's and found relief by trying a very low fat diet. By "very low" I mean under 10% of calories, low. You could try something like that for a day or two and see if it helps.

Of course, run everything by your doctor, because none of us here are doctors nor know your complete medical history.
