I’ve had a history of stuffy nose & post nasal drip. This has been treated with a steroid spray and nose feels clear now. We thought it would be worth treating for silent reflux too as I was having a sensation of choking at night but since startling lansoprazole I’ve noticed a tight throat developing. My sleep is now awful and wake up feeling a bit sick and gaggy. Can ppi make things worse? I’m at a loss what to do?!

seem to be worse on ppi

I am on Lansoprazole for silent reflux ,it seems a bit better but I do get the right throat mainly at night lying down especially on the right side , I had this sensation at the start of my symptoms so I don't think it is the tablets but the reflux causing this sensation,I am sorry to hear you are feeling it too .
yes- it happened to me. I got the reflux a year ago. It was so terrible - I couldn’t sleep. I was prescribed all kinds of PPI one after another . Nothig helped. Then I had Nissen fundoplication. After the surgery the doctor said me to take the PPI . My condition was not better. He sent me to check it- the response was: no reflux and no hernia- but I had still terrible burning in the troat- and every week - two weeks of stomac inflammation and pains in the stomac. After stopping PPI-s I feel much better. PPI can cause inflammation in the stomach- please read about it.
hi - yes - I don’t seem to have ever felt good on any PPI - stopped the lot and have never looked back. Still not great but manage with peppermint capsules and apple cider vinegar when required - but so much better than when I was on the PPI’s.
