Hiatus hernia

I'm just wondering what everyone's symptoms are with this condition. I have experienced burning sensation all the way up and down (stomach thru esophagus), chest pain, gas pain and seem to burp alot (mostly thru my chest area. Rarely a out loud burp.) My question is does anyone have issues with pain in ribs, spine (I do have 2 bulging disc), or any hernias and etc.

Sometimes I feel like the doctors don't believe the intense pain I have and brush it off. I wouldn't want anyone to go thru with this but if they felt my pain, (or anyone else's), they would investigate it more. They have given me a choice of surgery but always recommend against it because of the severity of the surgery. I feel like I'm not taken seriously.

Ihave exactly the same symptoms has you described I have had so many test nothing works . I have just seen a professor I could have told him what he described me. No one understands the pain I am going through. I know it’s just acid reflux coming from the stomach to my throat. I have had all the test, they cannot find any serious wrong with me. There is no way I would let them operate on me. Only if I knew it would be 100% there is no guarantee. I wake every morning with my throat burning. Just think cannot take anymore. But I have my family to think.of. At least you’re not the only one.

I think k about the possibility of surgery, but like you I think about my grandchildren and great grandchildren. Im not wanting to be in more pain so at least I can enjoy them.

Hi I have an hiatus hernia had it for years had three fundoplication operations unfortunately none worked for me .I now take omeprazole Gaviscon advance still get the reflux mine was found by a gastroscope . My hernia is now 10cm which is quite large if 3 ops can't fix it I am not prepared to try another at 79 years young. I find if I take my meds with food it works better for me I have my days when it is really bad it feels like a heart attack vomiting the whole lot. I try to drink plenty of water and try to keep some food down.your gp needs to do some tests. Hope you soon feel better

Yes my heartburn also feels like a heart attack. And water seems to also affect me. I seem to want to bring water back up like I'm allergic to it or something.I've had alot of testing done. Even the one where they go thru the nose to get to the stomach. My memory cannot recall what that is called. Yes feel free with any advice you have.

So if yours is 10 cm, Why didn't they do something earlier? Seems doctors wait and see, then it gets bad for the patient.
