Does anyone with acid reflux and heartburn experience bloating? And if so, any tips on how to help the bloating? I'm trying to avoid medication.

Hi, I can sympathise with you as I get awful bloating too with the reflux. Some days it just feels like it’s 24/7 with little relief. I do take medication ppi for the reflux but it seems to do little for the bloating. I think it has a lot to do with the bacteria in your gut I’ve done a 6 month trial of Kefir about 150ml every morning first thing. My gastro was dubious as the kefir can cause increased bloating but I stuck with it and all I can say is it’s better than when I started taking it. Finding the triggers is essential for me it’s spicy food, garlic, red meat you know all the things I loved! Anyway I have to limit those and also smaller meals, keep your weight in check and regular bowels. I also walk as much as possible because sitting after meals also causes bloating, it’s trial and error to find what works for you, good luck!

Very interested to read what you said about Kefir as I started taking it a couple of days ago but am also concerned in case it increases the bloating. But I'm going to give it a try. And I had also wondered about walking after meals so I shall give that a try too. Thanks for the suggestions.

Stop taking PPI, stop taking anything anti acid, your killing yourself. You are decreasing your acid that you NEED... you need MORE acid!!!! go watch Dr Berg on youtube and you get it, he cured me in 2 days. You need more acid.... not less.... Once you put more acid into your body you will have no heartburn and no issues.
