Should the improvement of reflux symtoms always get better as you take omeprazole? Currently in my 4th week of taking 20mg of omeprazole once daily and I've seen a big improvement in my upper abdomen issues but started with LPR symptoms quite badly. These then also subsided but have recently started to creep back and also now experiencing nausea in the evening and increased saliva along with a sensation in my upper back. Feel a bit down as I felt like I was really improving. I did have one chocolate 2 days in a row, could such little amounts cause this? Thanks

Better then worse on omeprazole
What is LPR ? I’ve been on them for 17 days now like u upper chest has calmed but I still get a sensation in my upper abdomen & back sometimes
It might be worth speaking to your doc and seeing if you should be taking the Omeprazole twice a day. Then if your symptoms calm down you could reduce the dose again. I only take it when things get bad. I take Gaviscon at night and raise my upper body as much as possible in bed at night. I get burning mouth too and can't find any pattern in why it starts up. It can be very depressing, but over the years have learnt to manage it with diet and Gaviscon.
do you ever get the warm sensation in your stomache ?
I used to before I started on the omeprazole like my stomach was really hot but that's gone now. Wasn't sure if it was gastritis but they would treat that the same as reflux
have u ever been offered any further tests ? Endoscopy , bloods ? To confirm what is the problem
so glad u said that it was a worry to me .. I find i also do little burps maybe only once after food & drink ….. have you ever experienced this ?
Omeprazole and other meds only partially relieve my symptoms. They don't work for everyone. Iam waiting for surgery.
Hi, I have the exact symptoms of LPR but can't get any help from the GP/NHS. Did yours clear up? Did you have a pain in your jawbone? I upped my omeprazole to 30 mg ( 1x20 and 1x10mg ) per day and developed LPR a few weeks later.
Yes the symptoms started to get better the longer I was on them but I'm not sure if it was dietary changes or the PPIs the made a difference. I have an endoscopy on Thursday so have been a few days without them and feel fine so I'd suggest giving the PPIs another few weeks to work along with removing triggers and see how you go. Hope it gets better.
