Esomeprazole on occasionally basis

HI all, I have been with this problem of heartburn for a few years, and recently looks like I am having the symptoms more regularly, and more strongly. I started taking esomeprazole (Nexium), which I bought from a pharmacy, without consulting a GP. I read that I should take for 7 or 14 days and stop, however, the tablet seems to work well, meaning I take only once, and my heartburn feeling disappears for a few days at least. However, it always comes back eventually, and I have to take another tablet. Recently I've read that long term users of this medicine could have serious side effects in the future. I would like to have some advices on if I can continue to take it occasionally only when I feel it burning, or take it on a regular basis for 7 or 14 days and stop, even without feeling the symptoms?

I appreciate any contribution.

Best regards.

Hello, "EDmil";

I've posted this here before but I'll do it again.

"Heartburn" & reflux is caused by LOW stomach acid, w/ lower than normal pH.

The solution is *NOT* to attack digestion (lowering pH further).

Weak stomach acid is usually the cause.

The esophageal sphincter is closed by STRONG stomach acid.

So a strong acid closes it but a weaker acid lets it stay partially open.

To fix this a person needs to increase the stomach acid pH.

This is easy to do w/ apple cider vinegar.

Two tablespoons in a couple ounces water will usually do it.

If that fails double the apple cider vinegar.

If that fails see a doctor as you may have a serious issue.

For 'routine' heartburn or reflux apple cider vinegar will usually fix it.

I got this from Dr. Eric Berg's youtube channel,

< youtube.com/c/DrEricBergDC/... >.

Most don't know 'medicine' & 'doctors' are all about profit.

*NOT* so-called "healthcare".

If you have a health issue, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!

Many 'ailments' can be treated w/ so-called 'home remedies'.

Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!

Hi EDmmil

My husband was prescribed with nexium only adter his Ivor Lewis surgery for esophageal cancer. So he has been taking 1 tablet daily ever since his operation.

Best would be to consult your GP about your concerns.
