Hello, I am new to this site and hope you can help me.
have been taking Omaprazole for at least 10 years. Apparently there was some concern about this medication a few years ago. As I was worried I have, with some difficulty, reduced the dose very slowly from 20mg to 10mg. I did it very slowly as I understand the body makes more acid if you try to stop taking them. My question is this..... is there a safer option that you know of that I could take to replace Omaprazole?
Thank you.

I was on 40 at one time. Read something that after a while it actuially causes the problems you are taking it to stop, and certainly noticed it did not stop reflux. I noted the things in my diet that aggravated it, like fizzy drinks and certain E numbers and cut them out ... not cured but ight get reflex but no acid. ertainly not worse!
I had eye problems (detached retina and retinal tears) out of the blue and I read somewhere that Omeprazole for prolonged period can affect the eyes. It was quite a long search, but something for you to look out for.
