What was your child's first word, and how did you react? Was it a surprising or expected word? What were you doing?

Maybe you want to tell us about their first sign instead.

We'd love to hear your stories. Let's celebrate those magical moments in language development

Hi my daughter’s first words were ‘no’ and ‘daddy’ Lol! She has had a few speech issues as she was growing up, and language was a bit delayed. I remember thinking she would always struggle with speaking but brilliantly she is now a very chatty teenager 😊.

Wow, a chatty teenager is impressive! My oldest son's first word was duck - no idea why! Sometimes it's hard to make out first words as they sort of come out of the babble, don't they?
