wondering if any of you that have had the Ivor Lewis surgery have had heart issues post surgery?
At 3 years post surgery I started having atrial fibralation. Now 5 years post surgery and the afib is worse but I also have Braychardia ( very low heart rate)
Looks like I will need a cardiac ablation and perhaps a pacemaker.
Just wondering if anyone has had similar happen.

Hi Janashlin, I had a robotic procedure in 2021. I'm unclear on your age but I developed atrial flutter post op due to the trauma of it according to my cardiologist whom I'm seeing today. They put me on two heart pills and one blood thinner when they discovered it and either side of the second round of chemo which was post op. My mother, uncle and grandfather apparently all had AF but the cardio said it was a result of the op not anything hereditary which i'm sceptical about - think they didn't pick it up on the first round of chemo because I was very fit (runner) and think that masked any condition. My mother now has a pacemaker as she had a low heart rate like you. They're so much smaller than they used to be and she's adapted to it very well and hardly notices it - she's in her mid eighties. So heart conditions as a result of the op don't sound too uncommon and virtually everyone I know over the age of 50 is on some sort of pill for something! As your post was a month ago, keen to hear what the latest is
Hi. Ive been told that my heart problem was caused by the chemo that I had pre op. And as my problems started after my first dose and I ended up in A&E but we are all so different it could be due to the lack of the vagus nerve post Ivor Lewis as I have been told that it is a nerve that helps regulate the heart. Perhap someone here will know the answer to that.
