Nexium Dosing Question

Taken 40mg in the past, helped the reflux but gave me chronic flatulence and other side effects.

Take 20mg also which had very little side effects if any.

Now after taking pantoprazole which gave some relief, he wants to try me on 30mg Nexium. One 20mg pill and 1 10mg sachet. He says to minimize side effects I should take them at different times, i.e morning and night or morning and evening.

Well I've started taking 20mg an hour before bed and the 10mg around 12 hours later. Taken it for 2 days so far with no relief (worse probably but maybe that's cause I've cut down my ranitidine from 900 to 450: maybe should have kept to 900 for 3 or 4 days till the ppi kicked in).

Now my question: Would it be better to:

1) Take the 20mg in the morning and the 10mg in the evening (or night?)

2) Keep with what I'm currently doing

2) Take the 30mg once a day in the morning.

Also, how many days before i should see any improvement?

Would appreciate any feeback, thanks

If it was me I would take 20ml the morning and 10ml 12hrs later in the day. Then trial that for one month and make notes of how you feel it's the only way to find out what suits you best. It's worked for me.

All the best

Phil
