I'm 11 months post op.(June 2015) Histology had shown a positive resection at the top of the tumour and scar tissue where the tumour was resting on the carina, had 9 wks chemo post op and 30 days of Radiotherapy. CT in March showed "thickening of tissues" in the area of the top scar, had an Endoscopy was this shows nothing internal except for some inflammation. Have lost 8lbs in last 3 weeks, sore dry throat, cough, breathless after walking upstairs and very tired with less energy than I had 6 months ago. GUI team have concluded that the tumour is back ....I'm now waiting for another CT to confirm how quick its growing! Treatment options seem to be more chemo and possible Herceptin if I have the HER2 gene

That's tough Rob, hang in there and wait for the results. There are a lot of treatments available.

Will be rooting for you

Hilary

I am sorry to hear that news. The only light of hope I can offer is that I know somebody who was diagnosed with a fresh outbreak of cancer (squamous cell) after having had an oesophagectomy and this was treated successfully with chemo-radiation. So you will have to repeat the process of listening carefully to the oncologist and others in the team as they work out what treatment best to offer you.

Now 2 wks into the first, of 3, rounds of chemo including Herceptin as the tumour is HER2 positive. expect another CT in 9/12 weeks to see if its had any effect
