I've seen and heard of a lot, but there seems to be too many to count

There are as many types as there are people who have OCD! But often they fall into groups. Another feature is that if you have OCD it can alter from one form to another. For instance, I didn't used to be a hand washer. My OCD mostly, and still does, take the form of repeating actions until they feel 'just right'. So I open and shut doors, switch things on and off, take something out of a cupboard and put it back again, and go back and retrace my steps, particularly in a doorway. Then I got the hand washing thing some years ago.

Often a particular obsession will disappear of its own accord. That's good, but it can pop up again in another form. Don't be downhearted when this happens. The same rules apply to treating OCD whatever form it takes.
