I have just found out that I Defintly have OCD. And now it all makes sense! I just thought it was my way of dealing with things and I didn't realise there was actual treatment for it! I had symptoms from 13 yrs and now I'm nearly 44! At last I feel there is light at then end of a very dark tunnel! Xx So glad I found this forum too, to know there are people out there that understand x Thank you for listening x

I know how that feels! I had these weird symptoms for years, and thought I was uniquely weird. Then my mother bought me a self-help book by the CBT pioneer Dr Isaac Marks. It described my symptoms, told me it was called OCD, and that there are treatments for it.
It made me feel better knowing that if I was weird, then at least I wasn't on my own with my particularly sort of weirdness, and that it could be treated.
I had been going to a 'therapist' who hadn't had the sense or decency to tell me I had OCD, but just kept me delving into my childhood. I had rather a go at him!
I do hope you are getting appropriate treatment now. Do post and tell us how you get on.
Yeah ditto to what Sally said, it’s good to know and confirm it. Check out this online support group groups.io/g/OCD-Support/top..., I love them and the woman who runs it, Wendy, is a godsend. This has helped immensely. I have loads of other resources if you need, just ask.
