Hi, sorry if I'm posting too much but this is something I'm very curious about. When all of this first started, the intrusive thoughts would raise my anxiety very high, but as time went on I still get the intrusive thoughts frequently, and while I'm still disturbed by them, I don't feel as much anxiety as before. A quick google search told me this is called the backdoor spike. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Aromley , Rusty Here I think most people with serious OCD like myself very much endure the backdoor spike, I have to take a deep breath sometimes and tell myself there is a lot of good things in my life, that does not mean the intrusive thoughts go they don't and they will always keep rearing there ugly head but it does help to think of the good things in your life.
That's the same effect that CBT aims for. So the intrusive thoughts can come, don't cause as much distress, and then go of their own accord. I haven't heard it called backdoor spike.
