Partial knee replacement

My knee doctor has recommended a partial knee replacement from my arthritis where I have bone on bone on the inside of my left knee. Has anyone had this done? What was your experience like? I'm considering having it done in Jan. '22.

I have the same problem bone on bone is what my doctor told me some time ago, had to call her out as the pain was so bad. It settled down somewhat but the pain's been bad again through august.

I dont see my rheumatologist in clinic until late october and I'm not familiar with partial knee replacement. Have they explained what it involves? I'm going to need something done to make life easier.

Hi Chrisj,I have some pain when I walk but it isn't too bad. I lost a lot of weight in the past 3 years and that seems to have taken much pressure off my knee. If you google ""partial knee replacement" as I did today....you can read all about it.

Hi, I have had both knees replaced due to bone on bone on the inside of both my knees. My surgeon was thinking about doing a partial knee replacement but decided as I would probably need a total knee replacement in the future to do it then. He did my right knee in 2017 and left knee in 2019. I don’t regret having them replaced.

Thanks for answering my request. How old were you when you had these surgeries? I understand they are good for about 10 years. I will be 75 next summer.

Morning Happypuzzler, I've not had a partial knee replacement but did have a total knee replacement in 1999 and it was highly successful. Gave me a relatively normal life back and I have never regretted having it done.

No personal experience, but a neighbour had a partial knee replacement a couple of years ago and is very happy with the result. I am working on putting off surgery as long as possible as I will need a complete replacement if and when it happens. However I have found a number of treatments have helped me, one is Flexiseq, a non medicated substance which helps to lubricate the joint. Worth a try, even if it's an experiment while you wait for surgery. As you are in the US you will have to do as I do from Canada, and order it from the UK through A****n but I have found it well worth it.
