Legs Give Way with no Warning

I have hypothyroidism and osteoarthritis in my hips. I have anterior pelvic tilt and keep having repetitive groin strain. I am 63. Occasionally a leg would give way for a second, usually emanating from a hip. Today it has happened to both knees separately as I was standing. I have told the doctors at my surgery on numerous times but I have never had a test for it. I am generally weak, flabby and lost skin tone. I look much older than other people my age. I was very active and adventurous up until I had two children at 40. It is now worrying me as I cannot walk very far without my pelvic area and back hurting. My Mum died in Jan and I helped care for her but now I need to get myself fixed and get on with my life again. Life is too short. Any ideas would be appreciated. x

Hi

I know times are difficult at present, but I think you need to press your GP surgery for referral to the muscular skeletal clinic for assessment. You will need X-rays - if you don’t have current ones - before referral so the clinic has some reference point.

This might help -england.nhs.uk/elective-car...

I have seen a physio 4xs and gave me exercises but it doesn't seem to do anything. I am leaning right forward with forward head posture, I am just so weak all over my body. I used to run up mountains. I am shaky as well. My muscles in my groin seem stringy. They don't seem to look at my whole body, just one area. I have had an xray on my hip. I can't stand for long either. I have had pulled muscles before. I have been ignored for years and when I insisted something was done about it the doctor said 'but you have had it for years!'

“the doctor said 'but you have had it for years!'”

No excuse not to do anything about it - particularly if it’s getting worse!

I went to the doctor yesterday who gave me a basic examination fully clothed and sitting down. Has referred me back to the physio who gets me to do a few exercises but nothing else. I have just looked at adrenal fatigue drberghelp.zendesk.com/hc/e... and this is exactly me, everything, menopause and stress and I have every symptom. I write a list for my doctor each time I visit with these exact symptoms. Why on earth couldn't they see it. I have an endocrinologist appointment next week so will bring it up. I have even told him about all my problems but just on the same NDT. If I don't get any joy I shall pay for a private specialist. Take a ibuprofen, take a paracetamol, they are keeping us ill. It probably didn't help with Mum being ill and losing her. It just all makes sense.

Do hope you get some answers soon. We shouldn’t have to go privately, but sometimes it’s the only way.

Please keep us informed.
