Hi joy12, that is wrong. If the over counter pain meds no longer give you relief there are many prescription pain meds to try. It can be a bit of a trial and error finding what is best for you so I'd say go back and see your gp again. Also ask for a physio appointment as it's important to keep the joint strong and as flexible as possible. Have a look at old posts for alternative therapies. Good luck.
Have you tried off loading knee braces and not the rubber ones you pull up and roll down?
The only thing that helps me is turmeric, 2500 mgs three times a day and yoga. Walking also helps, it gets the inflammation moving out of your joints. Even if you can't go very far, walk each day. You will sleep better too. I have taken a lot of NSAIDS for years and am starting to pay so I had to stop.
I was walking 7km a day til the coronavirus lockdown here in Spain stopped me - I'm sure it was keeping it at bay (plus 2 yoga/pilates classes a week to tone everything else - can't do that either except my version at home!)
I do most of my yoga at home, it’s more relaxing. I dance for aerobic exercise while confined. Try Queen Live at Wembly on YouTube.
That sounds like a good idea
Read How to Be Sick by Toni Bernhard. It is on Amazon and Kindle. She offers constructive exercises to get you mind off your suffering. It has really helped me.
I use turmeric and black pepper capsules daily and they work well for the pain. Don't use them if you are taking blood thinners.
I take them and let the sintrom (like warfarin) dosage be adjusted when INR went up
It works for you then I take it?
Hmm still get pain but I work on the basis that supplements aren't doing harm and maybe are doing some good - not being able to go walking due to Spain lockdown is a bigger problem .. and of course I'll run out of supplement supplies from health shop as it's shut - will have to see what they have in farmacia
yep, I agree there are a lot of successful medication that will ease the constant arthritis pain and make your life worth living. It's always been my experience that people who give 'professional' advice in reference to severe arthritis, don't have it themselves. I have taken opioid prescriptions for years for the above and at 75 years of age, I'm am now an expert.
