I haven't been lucky enough to have a remission ...yet Tilda. But you and your GP made the decision for you to have this lovely drug free holiday!!! I suspect as she was saying one month shouldn't make a difference as you have felt well for a while. But for me not controlled yet, I can tell if I haven't had my morning ARava!!!!

The doctor and you though long and hard over the decision yesterday so do what makes you happy but the main thing now is to get ready for this birthday and put your RA to the side I think! You deserve this wonderful celebration , you are a fabulous lady and could do with your friends and family around you!!! Hugs Axx

Thanks Alllanah. I'm at the stage with the party where I'm

absolutely bricking it! I've got to prepare food for 12 friends plus returning son and the rest if us for a week tomorrow. My house is a dump, 2nd toilet is out of order still and car needs servicing. We have snow here now and I have the big deadline for mock up art work design on 4th April and we can't agree on how to even start it! Husband has double night shifts this week and youngest son was meant to hand in his Higher subject choices this morning - keeps texting me to phone universities and double check entry requirements! Why would I not be stressed?!! So really I shouldn't be even thinking about RA and possible come back etc but I just want to know what to expect roughly so it doesn't take me by surprise. I'm suddenly quite scared! Xxx

Ps and what kind of CD do I use to burn 6 hours of party music on do you know?

Come on Tilda get with it were meant to be using mp3's now! Cd's are supposed to be strung up as bird scarers these days lol. I've not looked in for a little while but was really pleased to see you're in remission :-) Well done, so happy for you x

Paula how are you??? I almost PMd you the other day as have been missing you on here lately. But as usual my sad old brain forgot with all the other stuff that over crowds it just now. Well the hotel where my party is has a music system that looked a bit antiquated to me with only CD - no Ipod dock or such like as we have at home. I guess I could take mine in but the hotel's one links up to their sound system. Oh well I'm not going to fret - sure the boys can work something out nearer the time.

My choir sings two songs which we rehearse tomorrow night and I have musician friends lined up to perform some folk and tango and such like. Then I've got a brilliant local band playing from about 10pm - they are blues/ rock and I danced the night away to them last year at someone's 60th - three days after my last RA flare up in June!

Let me know how you are by PM or blog soon won't you please?

Tilda xxx

Sounds like you're going to have a lovely time. Just make sure you look after yourself and take time out to rest as well with your busy life. I take it with the medicine holiday you'll be able to partake of a few grown up drinks too :-) It's great to hear you're living life to the full though and have such a supportive GP. x

I'll pop a blog on soon. Sorry, I've neglected my lovely friends on here but I'll look up your blogs today x x

No DJ? x

I have rock musician sons Luce and my own personal brand of naff ness where music is concerned. No DJ just me!! X

Hi TildaT, I wasn't exactly in remission as such but my RA was very well controlled with MTX (20mg) and Humira and I had to come off both for an operation. My consultant said that he estimated I would have about 14 weeks (in his experience before flaring) where I would be fine. In the end I was off all the medication for 8/9 weeks in total before I was allowed back on and it was only towards the end of this time that I felt a bit achy - but by no means ill really and I could have gone on longer I think. Best wishes and enjoy yr party!.

Thanks that helps Pands. Having a bit of a rethink re initial excitement of being allowed a drug holiday. Not sure that it's worth it for a month and am now thinking it might be better to drop back down to 15mg or stay at 17.5 but drop the Hydroxy. So muddling but I'm too busy to dwell and plan next week off the MTX at least. TTx
