The other new symptom is that my feet and hands have got very cold. My feet feel as if I have burned them especially when in the shower,. Frightened to be honest. Does anyone have the same symptoms. Ask the GP who says ask Rheumy...who says ask GP...Help ?

gentle hugs

xxxx

I wonder what dose you are taking?

MTX makes me very cold for a day or so after the injection. And when I was on a high dose of tablets I used to feel my feet were burning.

I think MTX can take some getting used to. My pharmacist recommends drinking lots of water to flush it all out again!

Hope you get some answers. You could phone the NRAS people. They might help.

Hi Phoebe. Thank you for your reply. I am on 17.5 dose and this is the first time it has happened..feels like they are burning and colder than usual hands nose and feet :( have been drinking a lot . If it continues I will phone Rheumy. thank you x

I'm just like Phoebe - have had some weeks at the various doses of oral and now injectable when I just feel completely normal and others where I've reacted strongly but I always get extremely cold hands and feet the day after. It's the only constant side effect I can verify and predict. I'm also on 17.5mg and Hydroxy too. I think as Phoebe says MTX can take some getting used to and I wouldn't overreact. I think the rheumy or rheumy nurse should be the ones you describe this to if you have access to them. Tilda x

Hi Tilda

Been injectiing MTX since Jan now and it is only this week I have felt ill and feeling sick yet again. I am on hydroxy too my Crp has come down from 92 to 60 since the injections but my PV has gone up again..have always felt the cold after MTX day but this burny feet feels like chilblains :( Thanks Tilda. x

That's good news re your CRP. I wouldn't let a few chilblains or funny thermostat things put you off the injectable MTX but it is a shame when nasty side effects start up with the injectable too I agree - I'm in same boat but I know that it's worth hanging in there for still. Inflammation is the main enemy and if it's working (although a CRP of 60 is still very high!) that's the most important thing of all. Tilda x

Hi Tilda thank you for your reply. The thing that worries me the most about the strange feelings in my hands and feet is that my mother lost both legs due to circulation problems. She had Raynards but I don't know if she had RA as her last amputation killed her due to complications. Her troubles started with her little toe which turned into gangrene and that was the start of the troubles. I will phone Rheumy today and ask as worrying about it doesn't help. Fiona x

That explains why you are worried Fiona - I can see you want to get this checked out now. If I were you I would see the GP about this and explain why you are anxious so that hopefully he or she can put you mind at rest. My own parents both died suddenly of heart conditions - mum's went undiagnosed - so it has worried me re the RA too so I do understand. Tilda x
