Metoclopramide anti nausea anyone?

Has anyone tried this? Got a busy day ahead and can't afford to feel this duff post MTX but equally don't want drug unless it works. I was prescribed this last summer for nausea.

my mam takes it and i've pinched her tablets in the past when i'm floored wirh nausea- it works - but it makes me wheezy so if youre asthmatic be careful with it

I'm not so going to have one now. I'm working in the hospital this afternoon so if I collapse I'm in the right place and I was prescribed it at least. Thanks so much for responding.

Its not a good drug to take long term for some reason, but if its only one day a week I can't see it would be a problem.

I take metoclopramide to help with slow stomach emptying, and I can't quite understand how it helps with other types of nausea, though folk say it does. With me, it really does make my stomach empty through, but then I can end up feeling too empty and hungry fairly soon after.

Did you ever get any of those seabands? I find they are great for nausea. Stopped me throwing up on the boat tonight anyway!

Well that's kind of you to tell me your experience Earthwich. It said on the leaflet that its used for people on cancer medications who suffer from nausea so I guess its the right thing but it made no difference today I'm afraid. I see my GP in Monday so will ask him as it was prescribed by a locum. I did try sea bands but no go - I think MTX must be more powerful than even the Pentland Firth! Tilda x

Hope you got on ok with it. I also take it the day before and the day after my mtx injection. It does help but makes me really wiped out! I yawn for england and need to not drive. I've taken to having half a tab (5mg) on the day after as i feel better but less drugged. Do hope you got on ok on it x

I am feeling better tonight thanks - 24 hours the nausea seems to last for. I prefer the Buccastem tablets to be honest as the metoopromide doesn't seem to make any difference with me - although I only had one (it says 3 a day on packet). Buccastem makes me very sleepy though and the rheumy told me to only take it on the night of MTX and the night after - which is okay but it only lasts a few hours as an anti-emetic. I've decided to change my MTX day to Friday as I'm finding Wednesdays impossible and I have too much work on to be this wiped out each week! Thanks to you all for the advice. Tilda xx

I don't take it any more as it doesn't seem to work for me. Might try the Buccastem tablets Tilda, anything is worth a try if it helps with the nausea!

Buccastem works for me but I think that's partly because of the foul taste I get and you put these tablets under your top lip and let then dissolve slowly - and this helps me with horrid post MTX taste as they taste quite nice (well its all relative!) but as I say they do make me terribly sleepy.
