Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Week 24-30 June 2013

Hi Everyone,

We are excited to announce the first ever Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Week in the UK, a week dedicated solely to raising awareness of RA!

The week will be held from Monday 24th June to Sunday 30th June and the focus this year is that young people get RA too.

Many of our supporters have told us that a common response to mentioning their RA is “my granny gets a bit of that,” so we want to dispel the myth that RA is a disease of the elderly, caused by a lifetime of wear and tear. We want to emphasise the important message that it is an autoimmune disease with no age barriers. Most people are still of a working age when onset occurs so it truly is a life changing condition.

Events and activities will be planned throughout the week so watch this space to find out more information about what is happening near you and what you can do to support us. Follow us on Facebook ( facebook.com/nationalrh... ) and Twitter ( twitter.com/NRAS_UK ) to receive updates on RA Week and how you can take part.

This is your week so please get involved and help us raise awareness of RA!

Best wishes,

Ruth Grosart

Digital Media Coordinator at NRAS

Hi, I've tried to get on the facebook link but it's showing it has been removed? or is it just me! :)

would like to do something that week.

Hope this is very publicised(sorry cant spell) :-) . It may open peoples eyes who are not familiar about the condition. Xx Alison

Hi Wiliby, Sorry about the link. Not sure why it's not working! Try this one facebook.com/nationalrheuma... and let me know!

Alialibongo, we do hope the week will get lots of publicity and I'll do my best via our social media platforms and our Press & PR Officer, Andrew and is going to work hard to get as much coverage as possible.

Please follow our Facebook and Twitter accounts if you use these sites and share the RA Week posts. With all our supporters doing this we can work together to get the word out!

You can also join our membership ( nras.org.uk/help_for_you/me... ) or sign up to our e-news ( nras.org.uk/about_rheumatoi... ) to hear more about the week but we will keep you updated on here too!

Thanks for your support :)

Ruth
