Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Week 24-30 June 2013

Hi Everyone,

We are excited to announce the first ever Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Week in the UK, a week dedicated solely to raising awareness of RA!

The week will be held from Monday 24th June to Sunday 30th June and the focus this year is that young people get RA too.

Many of our supporters have told us that a common response to mentioning their RA is “my granny gets a bit of that,” so we want to dispel the myth that RA is a disease of the elderly, caused by a lifetime of wear and tear. We want to emphasise the important message that it is an autoimmune disease with no age barriers. Most people are still of a working age when onset occurs so it truly is a life changing condition.

Events and activities will be planned throughout the week so watch this space to find out more information about what is happening near you and what you can do to support us. Follow us on Facebook ( facebook.com/nationalrheuma... ) and Twitter ( twitter.com/NRAS_UK ) to receive updates on RA Week and how you can take part.

This is your week so please get involved and help us raise awareness of RA!

Best wishes,

Ruth Grosart

Digital Media Coordinator at NRAS

that is great Ruth as the one thing i always think is that people are not aware of how much RA affects peoples lifes and the confusion between RA and other types of arthritis. Thanks for doing it and yes at our teaparty next week we will help raise awareness!! love Allanah and Katyxx

Hi Allanah,

Yes we are really hoping to make people understand the condition better and dispell some myths!

Good luck for your tea party and thanks so much to you and Katy for holding one. Let us know how it goes :)
