Settling into a slower pace of life with RA.

Hello All,

Its a while since I blogged, because as you know I have been convalescing. It is amazing the first week or two I thought I would go mad, cooped up 24/7, unable to walk, but now I am quite happy, watching TV, reading a bit and generally lazing about watching everyone else do stuff. My hubby is currently cutting the lawn, in November there is something quite wrong about that, but he informs me as the tempeture has not fallen below 10 degrees, the grass is still growing! who knew? Men are funny about cutting the grass are'nt they?

i would'nt care if the grass grew long but he insists it is kept at a regimented 2ins. Jeez louise!!!

Anyho, here I am, no Christmas pressies bought, every site I seem to browse is American and when I try to buy something it looks for my zip code, its not fair, I want a zip code, so I can get $ bargains, is there any way around this??

My boss 'the lovely 27 yr old Dave' rang me this morn, luckily I am smothering with a cold so answered phone frm bed quite forlornly, we chatted on, me non committedly? He did say when he broke his leg skiing he taxied into work, and worked on the ground floor, was that a hint ?- ah I'm too long in the tooth to be impressed. I just thought (your a moron, who wants promotion) I am sailing slowly towards a pension, and care less than you could ever imagine. Well, I said tarra eventually, and I'll ring you when I know anything after I see Consultant.

. What are these calls about from employers about, he was probably sorry he rang coz I could talk forever....

Only a week to go now to my xray & bk to ortho, hopefully op was successful. I'll scream if there is any problem.

Sorry if this is a waffly blog.

Gina.

Ps. Still off fags, 2 months now. Sadly have redeveloped a temper, I thought I grew out of in my 20s!!! (According to my dearest) LOL!!!

Just a minor thought on the crimbo pressies situation.

Just reading the news online and I came along this item that made me think of your blog.

Thanks all, Ella I smoked about 20 per day - used patches and mini tabs to start with and now just 1.5 mini tabs, its not that easy but getting easier :)

Mainly I stopped for financial reasons & also smoking affects the fusion of your bones, so was'nt taking that risk!!! & Ella I live in Ireland. :)

Great to hear from you Gina you sound well on the road to recovery. Can you cancel buying christmas presents on the grounds of operation and just say you will just happily receive them this year!

Well done on the smoking! As an ex smoker know only how hard it is.

Well done of the ciggies Gina.. keep it up and happy shopping!

To keep you on the straight and narrow. I am doing a

learning programme on RA and I quote from my pharmacy learning material

( courtesy of the centre for pharmacy postgraduate education)

Smokers have an increased risk of developing RA and the prognosis for those who continue to smoke is worse than for non- smokers!

Hi Alison,

I actually did know that. :( It is an awful addiction. Very hard to break, but its done now. They always say negative stuff bout smokers, not sure I belief half of it, guess stats are related in a lot of ways to socio economic groups incl diet, exercise, alcoholetc so therefore their outcome is usually worse thats my opinion anyway.

Glad you seem to be doing well.

Regards, Gina.

Glad to hear that your recovering nicely,i try to use different words to try and cheer you up. Good on you for giving up the dreaded weed. I wish my kids would give up smoking. They used to beg my dad to stop as it was the cause of his last illness. So well done to you.

At least your boss rang you, mine didn't even ring to see how i am,never mind send a card. Company was taken over in the sept and we were made redundant in the nov. and now they are closing the plant altogether. I wish i could get a job as i think it would help my well being all round. Not that anyone would employ me now. The goverment tries to restrict benefits to get us into work, but nobody would employ us with the illnesses that we have would they.

love sylvi. xx

Well done on the ciggies. A great achievement and well worth it. I've seen some data on how people are as well as though they'd never smoked after so many years something like five? So that's quite an incentive

X c

had to laugh about the hubbys grass cutting, mine is exactly the same! it may look like world war 3 has hit inside our house and thats okay as long as the grass is cut!!!!

good to see your blog, hope things go well with your x ray :)

and stopping smoking, fantastic, lost my Mum due to a smoking related disease, I make a point of harassing all my students about the dangers! I'm such a pain in the ars** :)
