Hi, first time I've posted on here but I've been following the blogs and questions for a while.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone had had a wrist replacement and if so how it went etc

Hi Hector, just seen your question as been "off air" for a couple of days. I haven't had a wrist replacement but I think one or two on this site have so hope you get a response soon.

You could have a word with your GP and see what they say or speak to the orthopaedic consultant who should be able to answer any questions you have.

good luck. LavendarLady x

Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm seeing the orthopaedic surgeon next month. He has alkready fused my left wrist and done a synovectomy on my right wrist, which is now starting to fall to bits, so I'm guessing a wrist replacement is the way he will go. We did discuss it for my left one but since thats my dominant hand we went for fusion and he said then that the right would be replaced if that went the same way. He is an excellent consultant, very down to earth and will answer my questions. But for some reason I'm more concerned about the possibilty of this than I was when I had the other one done. Daft really when I didn't have any problems with it and to be honest it was the best thing I had done.

Guess I just want to hear from someone who has had it done to say it worked / didnm't work.

I've had both wrists fused, I didn't know that you could replace a wrist, wow.

Good luck, Hector.

Hi Thanks for reply Don't think replacements have been about

for long and they have a shelf life of about 10 - 15yrs

How do you get on with both fused wrists?

Hi, This is my first time here, but I saw your post and wanted to reply. I had a full wrist replacement at the end of July this year. I am still in the recovery stage because they say it takes up to 6 months. I am very glad I had the replacement. I will only have 30% motion in each direction, that is the max for this implant, but I have a lot less pain now. I do still have weakness which is natural after not being able to use my hand for almost a year. I am up to lifting 3 pounds after 3 months. I continue to get better each day, but maximum for lifting is 10 pounds for this implant. If I lift more I could dislocate it. I had the choice of fusing or replacement too. I would do this again any day.

Many thanks for your answer I never thought about there being a weight restriction. That will be on my list of questions to ask. Good luck in your recovery sounds as if you're doing well
