Does anyone else find they bruise easily since getting RA? Is it the drugs we take or yet another effect of RA?
Bruising: Does anyone else find they bruise easily... - NRAS
Bruising
Yes and if your on steroids it will be worse.xx
Yes I bruise very easily but noticed it before I started on the medication, my toes seem to bruise the most, I hardly have to bang them or catch them on anything and I find I get a big bruise.
Mary
I get 'mystery' bruises. they appear and I cant remember knocking into anything!! And no it's not when I am drunk.lol. As I am tee total now The other day I was helping move some furniture and the following day got a huge bruise on my upper thigh, which could have been from pushing settee. But it seems out of proportion to what I had done.
Steroids, drugs, and just generally autoimmune disease.
Its worth asking your GP if you have ever been tested for antiphospholipid syndrome though (thats something that goes with autoimmunes) or anything like that. Make sure you do tell your GP about your bruising easily though, as it could be significant.
Thanks for advice. Never thought to get it checked out. Just thought it was 'one of those things'.
Hi dtech. I tend to bruise easily and when I'm having a flare it gets even worse. For some bizarre reason mine tends to be on my legs and arms mainly - I can look like the clumsiest person going sometimes, even though I know I haven't been bumping into things. I mentioned it to GP who ran tests (even for leukaemia, which was a scary moment!) but they all came back OK. Only anomaly was that although everything was present and correct in the bloods it looked like my platelets weren't working quite as efficiently as normal. GP put it down to meds and said nothing to worry about.
Thanks Mistymeana. As I put above. We'll have to add it to the weird things that happen with RA
