Sad to hear your in pain again, damn RA ...
Hi PJ68 you have done well to hang in til now. You have been going through alot.
I am not a teacher and i am at the other end my kids are off and i am working and feeling i should be with them and not leaving them with a childminder so i am taking one day off. And i always feel i have to go buck mad entertaining them.
Enjoy your week and have a good rest and i hope you get some respite from the pain.
Bless you!
Hope you have a fab day off too - my daughter loves to watch a dvd, have popcorn and snuggles on the sofa - great when I'm in pain - we can have quality time and I don't have to feel guilty!
What we do to keep up eh!
take care x

Hi Pen
I too work in school and have found it particularly difficult the last 3 weeks due to pain levels and swollen joints. Don't know about you but I sometimes wonder how I do it!
Have a fab half term and a good rest! You deserve it!

Hi
I too work in a school and I am relieved its half term. Its only school holidays that keeps me going ......there is always that light at the end of the tunnel. My job is particularly physical as the children I work with have special needs and I always get to that last week and have to drag myself out of bed.
So lets all enjoy our week and refresh for the next half of the term. I personally hate the Xmas term.

Hi
I am teacher and got diagnosed in in August 2011. Although I was given hydroxy, it has not started working as yet, as I have only been taking it for a month. Continued to flare and swelling in particular in my hands got worse over the last two wks.
Was sent home from school on tuesday, ended up having emergency blood on wednesday at hospital, rheumy team gave me an emergency appt thursday (back at hospital)and I was put on a short step down 6 wk course of steroids and given mtx in addition to take.
Did not make it to end of term as I as I am doped up with pain killers and still waiting for steroids to fully kick in.
I am glad its the half term hols, as I can be sick without missing school.
Have a pain free rest over the half term.
Cheers

Ah bless us!
We obviously love our jobs and we are strong in spirit even if not our joints!
If the weather continues like this - sunshine and warmish! - we should all have a great rest - thinking of you all!

Hi, i work in the special needs dept in a secondary school too, was diagnosed Oct 2010, been on lots of different drugs but they caused horrible side effects am now on Sulphrazaline, not seeing much improvement yet. In the last month have had to apply to my job as they have decided to merge 2 jobs into 1, have an interview when i go back after this week, not holding out much hope as the other 2 candidates have not been off sick like me ! I have worked there 9 years, with the last 3 years doing the job that i now have to apply for ! Broke up Thursday and have been in bed ever since with a bad cold, stressed out and pain is very bad at the moment.
I used to love my job but i now hate going in, as i feel so tired all the time !
Hi
i work in a school and am really glad it's half term. I was diagnosed just after i started my job at the school so felt i couldn't take time off work, i don't know how i got myself to work in the mornings, i could barely open the car door!
I usually get a bad flare up in my shoulders and neck this time of year but so far it's good, i feel quite lucky really, i don't seem to suffer like a lot of the poor people i read of this site, anyway i'm hoping to stay well because i've got lots planned this week in the garden!
take care
Hi, blimey how many of us work in schools ! ! Maybe all the germs that are thrown our way have something to do with RA ! ha ha.
Enjoy the rest everyone.
Karen
Good Monday Morning!
Yet another school bod here - I teach cookery in a primary school (yes, I know how unusual this is!!) You can imagine the difficulty kneading bread with year 5 when hands are playing up! I am on Methotrexate and Meloxicam and, touch wood, having a flare-free time right now. School holidays are what keep me going - I just wouldn't be able to do a full-time, 9-5 job. I have cut my hours down to four days a week as it is!
Enjoy half-term and rest up - this next half-term is the busiest of the school year!
