Does the letter not mention diagnosis at all niall? That is beyond me! However, do you feel a ray of hope at the thought of 'just' having gout?

The only way you are going to clear this up is to phone the Rheumy nurse or to ask your GP to contact your Rheumy as diagnosis is the $100,000 question - they can't stay silent on that one, even is the answer is 'Don't know'!

They're trying lol its a terrible situation last week letter said ra in black and white so finally put my denial to bed now this week back to square one its really doing my swede in!

Remind me Niall are you on drugs for RA already or are you still waiting for diagnosis?

If they are leaving you on DMARDs then they must still think you have RA but if you aren't yet on RA meds and are still waiting to hear one way or t'other conclusively then I think you should do as Feather suggests and phone up rheumy nurse or GP or both. Although probably the gout info won't be with your GP yet so you should take them with you and let them find out for once and for all. It sounds to me as if they are saying you only have gout not RA but it's very hard on the brain to cope with adjusting and acceptance and all that blah if they aren't making it clear. Poor you - I hope the gout drugs make a difference and you get some solid answers from them soon. Tilda x

Hi Niall

I would phone your consultant secretary and ask for more clarification on your condition.

Hope the gout meds work and offer some relief.

good luck hun

Thanks sci i did ask if it was a mis-diagnosis and they said possibly but unlikely, i was dubious as i have been getting a lot of soft tissue pain in my calves almost like a cramp but my hands are playing me up again, i really just feel like im having meds blindly thrown at me and they're some bad stuff and would think it would be more rigorously checked so either my dubious instinct is right or im back in denial again lol !i wish i could tell if i was coming or going
