hello can anyone tell me if im entitled to any allowance or benefits ive been on sick now for 12 weeks with r/a starting mtx tomorrow dont no about my future role at preasent thankyou

I don't know Owen re benefits but it is very early days regarding your RA and the MTX may well make a huge difference to you as it does for many of us given about 6-12 weeks you will hopefully be feeling a huge difference in pain levels. TTx

Hi

You should be entitled to SSP while your on sick leave. There's no automatic right to benefits for any condition (unless your terminally ill), you can however, make a claim for DLA (disability living allowance) if your under 65 and resident in UK.

DLA comes in 2 parts one for care which is paid at 3 rates (low/middle and high) and is based on how the condition affects your daily life and the amount of care/help and support you need during day and night and preparing meals.

The other part is mobility which is paid at 2 rates (high and low) and is based on mobility needs, it focuses on how you get around and far you can walk without having to stop due to severe pain.

If you do apply and awarded middle rate care this qualify's you for other benefits and if claiming tax credits entitles you to the disability element of working tax credit.
