Interesting discussion on Radio 4 now (16.30ish) about the experience of fatigue. Has anyone else heard it and what do you think about it?

Cathie my dear. You are so normal! I didn't hear it but it has been a big topic of conversation at my RA ed sessions and amongst the group of people I am now meeting up with regularly as a support group.

I was talking to a lady in this group who has had RA for 35 years. Fatigue is only something now she is learning about, and Pacing is something she is learning about. Today she said, she can look back on what it was like for her and thinks "oh my god so I wasn;t going nuts after all!"

They had some quite interesting things to say about fatigue eg afternoon naps are good but no more than 20 mins, otherwise you go into a different kind of sleep. And it doesn't do you good to sleep too long at night either. Small consolation for us when we wake up at 3am with he heebie jeebies

I watched a programme last night about a girl of 16 who couldn't stop sleeping - I can't remember the name of this incredibly rare disorder but it was rather heart breaking as she had missed half her life. I wouldn't mind being able to stay asleep for more than 2 or 3 hour stretches at night but if I sleep more than 20 mins in the afternoon I find it impossible to sleep at night at all no matter how tired I am. I will catch up with this programme on iplayer. Radio 4 is the bees knees isn't it?!

Whats normal?

Have never met a normal person, we'll all different thank god. If most people suffered like we do they wouldn't be able to cope. My thought is god only gives us what he thinks we can cope with. Mind you some days i wonder what i've done wrong to suffer like this. We're still alive, so thats something to be grateful for.
