Hello everyone, I have severe arthritis, and over the years i have taken script strength meds,
For a year i have been on pain patches ( BUPRENORPHINE 70 MICS, the highest dose) but to be honest they dont really work anymore, body got used to them i guess..anyone else tried them, or can u recommend other meds that work for you?
Hi Beth, thanks for replying..i have been seeing a pain specialist for almost 2 years, he tried injections, pills and patches to no avail.....he said there is nothing more he can offer me to relieve the pain so im back to square one !!
That's a good idea Beth,I was only using paracetamol for pain, stopped worki so now 30% codeine occasionally.
Gina.
Hi Maggie, I suggest you call and try to see your Rheumy, or whomever perscribed the patches, and let them know they just are not working. Most likely you need to be on an oral drug that would go through your whole body, instead of a local patch.. I'm afraid I would use up a whole box of those patches everyday to cover all the sources of pain! Good luck ASAP Lxxx
Hi loret, thanks for answering, unfortunately the various meds i need to take every day would clash with the rheumy meds, which is why i was prescribed the patches, along with tramadol and co codamol which no longer work ! the patches are not localised, they are meant to travel into the body via the blood stream....but as i said they never did much for me, so i carry on in pain hoping for the best !!!
It should be quite simple, first what pain meds have you tried before ? There are a whoe heap if meds to try, write a list and we can go from there. Del.x
