This site is great but I think I was answering questions thinking I was writing a blog. My computer skills are as bad as my R.A not good.Anyway as Im off methotrexate and sulphazalazine until september at least.Thats been over a week now and I am really enjoying food again, I forgot what it felt like not to be squeamish.(need to watch the weight though) I also had a glass of wine for the first time this year, I wont go overboard but it was nice to have the social experience.Im going on holiday in 2 weeks so I might have another few social evenings before September. Even just a few weeks feeling normal(still have pain)I suppose that is normal for all of us.x

You know me !!!! going to York tomorrow for a couple of days,Cant tell you how good it feels, I know its only for a few weeks drug free but its like winning the lottery! Then i'll be back on the drugs in september, at least its been fun and will boost me for the next 6weeks in which time I'll be on my cruise before D day(back on drugs). When I read other people's stories I feel so lucky to have reached my ripe old age (60) before R.A caught me. Its the young ones who can't wear fashion shoes,do all of the things that I have done that make me feel so sad for you all. I spent today trying on sensible shoes!!! its the way forward for me.xx

Nell, I'm 62 and RA caught me at about 43.

I started wearing flat, more sensible shoes then but was able to wear less sensible ones when we went out. That being said, shoes more than clothes were 'my thing' and I see so many shoes nowadays where I think 'if only'. But hey, you just have to get on with the hand thats dealt you. When my daughter takes me shopping I look at 'nice' shoes and my daughter says (words to the effect of) "Mum, you cant wear those" and I reply, "yes but I can look and if I could, I would" !!

My feet nowadays are bad so I now hate new shoes and shoe shopping. The shoes I've bought which have ended up in the bin because they felt comfortable in the shop but wore them once and then have ended up throwing them .......

I was about to throw another 6 pairs the other day when I was clearing out my wardrobe and decided to try them first. 5 of the 6 pairs now fit and seem as though they may be comfortable again, didn't know if the retuximab was working but maybe it is. (At least one pair have been worn 3 or 4 times since and have been ok so will now try actually wearing the others).

Hope you enjoy your trip to York and your cruise (and a few drinks) before going back on the meds.

Thanks judi,I did get nice shoes in York. Hotters there great a little wedge, gold sandal comfort. Its not that my feet look any different that before Ive always been a 6 slim fitting shoe its just the pain in the balls of my feet and my instep so im happy with my comfy gold sandals for my cruise I couldnt wear them all day but a couple of hours then change to my alterain sandals.I,ll need to clear my shoe cupboard again.thanks x
