I think its certified sick leave, because you are unable to work a complete day due to illness, a cert is usually required when you are fit to do full days. You should not have to use annual leave once you have a note from your doc. Holiday leave is exactly what it says on the tin - the cheek of them! The phased bit is to cover them for insurance purposes!

thank you.. have a note saying phased return!!

Hi Alison, I don't no much about this as I've not worked for nearly 18yrs. What I can say is though you have a good GP so they are the best ones to speak to,like Gina said the cheek of them asking you to use you annual leave its what its for leave for holidays etc! That doesn't seem right to me.

They want people to remain in work now but it seems there not doing enough to help people do just that. I'd speak to my GP.

Good luck, you deserve it, take care.

When you ready for full days and your doc agrees get a 'fit to resume' note. Annual Leave!!! They used that on people who were snowed in this year so unfair!!!

Hi Alison,

I don't work full time, I work full days from Wed to Tues and then off same, I am doing that since I had my son who is 23 this year. I work for a major health insurer, I deal with third party recoveries in accident related claims! stressful & glad I only do it job sharing (although I have no work partner)

My Consultant said I would have to work part-time so lucky I did! I don't mind you asking at all. Even at that I did a phased return to work. You be assertive and don't take any shit. If they say something is policy, ask what their policy is on people working with disabilities! Most companies have attendance management policies these days and its a one for all. A very good friend of mine just lost her baby at 6 months (v v sad), and while she is entitled to paid leave she came back after a month, has spent every day breaking down crying - should'nt be there, but do you think anyone told her entitlments NO! She on phased return, but way too unstable to be there! Everyone has a different story, but todays work place is not for the faint hearted!!! What do you do?

xx
