If not having RA and gut problems isn't enough plus Osteoarthritis! Had an x-ray on Tuesday with next day result (NHS) multi level degenerative level changes. B painful and woke up with it on one day. Apart from usual meds and hot bean bag wrap around the neck it's gradually easing. Pain also on one side of head crown. Seeing a FCP at my surgery soon. Any tips?

I will be interested what the surgery says, I also have neck pain , had RA for about 17 years and my Dad also had it and he ended up having surgery on his neck .
I see my rheumatologist in a couple of months and the question about my neck will be asked
I do use Voltoral joint and back pain gel which helps and also naproxen, which I HATE taking , so only use when I really have to
It's eased up slightly with heat pad and gel. I used to have naproxen but many years ago my then rheumatologist took me off it as having RA more of a risk of heart attack and stroke. 2 weeks back on Benipali and I'm moving around much better. I guess I've had RA for going on 20 years plus Osteoarthritis.
Hi, I have OA and RA in my neck. I find using Biofreeze really helps with the pain.
Good luck
I started with pain C 6 20 years ago and was offered a spinal fusion but I decided to cope.. now the fusion has happened naturally and I have a lot less pain but very limited lateral neck movement…. plus the RA or psoriatic arthritis . Diagnosed sero neg RA 20 years ago but now think it is PsA!
My neck is playing up at the moment too, it has been like it for 18 months. I often wear a collar at home in the evenings when watching tv or in the day, if on my computer. I tend to nod off to sleeps. when watching TV and wake with my head in an unsupported position which the collar prevents. Heat sometimes helps as well as deep heat gels and gentle pilates exercises. I appreciate soft collars are not recommented by doctors for long periods, but the support of the collar makes things more comfortable at times.
I find that gentle neck exercises really do make a difference to the pain.
Maybe enquire about having some nerve conduction tests to see if you may have damaged nerves nerves causing pressure on joints.,
