Hi! I unfortunately I am in the same boat as you and have a few compounding issues on top of that. I was diagnosed with PMR 10 years before the RA came along. Pain mostly in my shoulders and hips at first then hands, feet and other joints later. I can tell if I’m having a PMR flare vs a RA flare. I’ve been through all the biologics with no luck and can’t take MTX anymore because I developed allergies to it. I’m on a low dose of prednisone which works better than anything. I occasionally have to increase the dose if I’m having a bad flare but then I titrate back down (slowly) the smallest effective dose.

I’m sorry you’re feeling so badly. Is there any urgent care available to you. It’s not reasonable to expect you wait so long for help.

Best~

Seems like once you start on this road with ra doctors and nurses they really go out of there way to get you on right treatment straight away but once they stop working for you because of other issues that they don't work on steroids and strong opiates seem to be the only option and you end up back of the queue , and we know there is no cure for this desease just trial an error with some horrible drugs with so many side affects

Hi Sandie, sorry you’re in so much pain: I had shoulder flare last week, totally debilitating, after being off MTX for a month (side effects). Did post on it, cold, heat and pain killers/anti inflammatories but have just started biologics so this may have helped it subside?

I would definitely ring advice line and ask, two weeks is a long time to feel like that and they are usually v good if you’re in pain. You may get earlier appt. Hope you get relief soon x
