I'll try to make this as brief as possible. Over the last year I had 8 attacks of this: Out of the blue, very rapid onset of fever > 39.0 Celsius within an hour. A non-itchy, bright red rash on the upper thigh and a buttock. Muscle and joint pain all over the body and the worst imaginable feeling of fatigue. The temperature usually goes back normal within 6 to 8 hours. The rash takes a few days to fade. I'm completely bereft of energy. At least 3 days of complete rest, sleeping more than our cats, and after that a week of gradually doing a little more every day. It takes a fortnight before I can go back to the gym. Sometimes these attack happen in short succession. I could go on with the symptoms.......Anyone experienced anything like this? Be good, be well and misbehave a little.

Off Topic? Pyrexia Rash Fatigue

This was how my rheumatoid arthritis started. My temperature came on every evening and the rash came with it. By morning the rash and temperature subsided but the joint pain and fatigue remained. I was in Peru at the time. The Peruvian doctor suspected rheumatoid arthritis and I was flown home. After six months the NHS came to the same conclusion, but they tested me for every obscure tropical virus before doing so.
Thank you for your reply, Potatos. I have RA since 2009. With me the attacks started after the second Shingrix injection. Nobody seems to know what might cause them. Do you still get these episodes? How is your life with Ra?
The rash was on my thighs, not sure about buttock as I never looked. My fever came on every day for over a month. It then subsided but then came back about three months later. The joint pain and fatigue never went away. At first my symptoms were called reactive arthritis, thought to have been triggered by aan unknown virus. Once it came back I I was then admitted to hospital and diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I was initially tested for rheumatoid arthritis but the blood test came back negative. Once in hospital I still tested negative but the consultant said he didn't care and started me on methotrexate anyway. It took a year and the introduction of Humira to stabilise. I have now been stable for 19 years.
I have no direct experience of this I’m afraid stbernhard, but just wanted to say I was sorry to hear you were having to deal with this, and to send you a hug this morning 🤗
