So, my RA team sorted me out this week with two pens. And this morning I used the first one. Despite the extensive side effects listed on the leaflet, I am hopeful. And, I didn’t feel a thing!
Thank you for all the messages of support & understanding this week, they have meant so much to me. This is a weird journey to be on, and it’s so nice to know I am not alone.
I hope you have brilliant painfree weekends.

RA Rule No 1…by all means read up on any new meds…but ALWAYS believe any nasties happen to other people….especially if you think because a side effect is written down….it must happen to everyone!
In almost 30 years I have only ever read up on any unusual effects that I have experienced personally on taking a new med….& here I am in remission on just one Rituximab infusion every 9/12 months.
That’s excellent wisdom! I have heard of this approach in other contexts, and it’s called optimism bias. It’s the reason people believe they are less likely to have car accidents than other people! I think it’s an incredibly useful tool to employ in this context, so thank you!
100% agree! And have you ever read the list of side effects for say paracetamol? As you advise I only even look at them if I suspect a symptom may be a side effect of something I’m taking.
Don’t read the paragraph below, TheMarfs!
(Interestingly my only side effect from Adalimubab I had was a rash which didn’t appear anywhere on the literature I was given and even my rheumatologist was puzzled by. It was only when I posted on here about it that others said it was quite a common one!)
It’s great to hear you got on so well with the first injection. Fingers crossed it gets into your system and starts working its magic. I’m still waiting to hear from the drug company about my delivery.
I am still waiting for them too! The RA team sorted a direct prescription so i didn’t have to keep waiting. I don’t even have a sharps box, so i’ve had to use an old ice cream box and cover it with warning stickers (i only had jam making ones in the drawer!) so it’s all rather silly. 🤣 i hope you hear soon!
