Stills is a chronic rheumatoid condition of autoimmune nature. I have other AI conditions but am mainly medication free. Two years ago, following emotional trauma, I developed new symptoms. Cancer was ruled out and various mild health issues uncovered such as high cholesterol, low blood pressure and possibly thyroid issues which are still being investigated.
I seem to have recurring gastric issues and reflux which presents as fizzing in my head and nose; weird right. I have a script for PPI of omeprazole which works but causes debilitating headaches so I use it sparingly.
My question is does nasal fizzing sound like acid reflux? I’ve had several scopey pokies in 23/4 with NAD so I certain nothing major is afoot.
I’m vegetarian, eat healthily, slightly underweight, quite active, supplement free atm and have retired early post pandemic so having an easy life now (apart from helping Mum 87 post fall/break).
Dentist has said I’m grinding my teeth, I’m wondering if mineral deficiency is the cause of reflux /teeth and is rooted, pun intended, in the as yet undiagnosed thyroid issues? Does nasal fizzing fit with reflux or GERD?

Sorry to hear about your woes and Mum’s fall. I hope she is recovering well with your support. This could be illness, allergy, dryness or irritation in the nasal passage. RA medications can cause the nasal passages to inflame. You may also be experiencing silent reflux. Coffee and tea can be a culprit as can various foods without you even knowing as can cordials and juices. Xx
Thanks for your reply. Luckily I’m not taking RA medication so not that. I don’t drink coffee or cordials but do have a glass of diluted apple juice before dinner at 7 pm and four cups of tea a day however I first experience this nasal fizz at noon when I have a late breakfast of toast snd cereal so I feel it’s food rather than tea as I have my first cup at 9 am. It’s worse after a big meal in the evening. I have no known allergies and since these new symptoms began in Feb 23 the reflux has been sporadic. For many months I didn’t have it at then suddenly out of the blue it feels like someone’s poured acid inside my head, almost like in cartoons from the 70s 🤯
I may have to resort to that. I’m don’t eat meat or any fast food and mainly cook from scratch with the exception once a week of breaded fish and oven chips which I realise is a culprit food. I’m a healthy eater preferring carrots sticks to biscuits or cake and nuts rather than chocolate. I shall try adding gaviscon, thanks again.
Like you I had the most unpleasant head & nasal reflux symptoms but after carefully avoiding acid & difficult to digest foods , eating main meals at mid-day, no eating/drinking after early evening , sleeping with the head of the bed raised and taking prescribed Lansoprazole taken regularly with Gaviscon when necessary, I have improved enormously and am nearly normal again!
Thanks for your reply and glad to hear you are feeling better. I will persevere with the omprazole again it’s just the dreadful headaches it causes. I’ll get some gaviscon, there’s several options, do you suggest one type? I struggle to sleep already having anxiety, RA pain and insomnia and usually lie almost flat so don’t think I could sleep at an angle but I’ll give it a go. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks il give that a try although night time is ok it’s during the day that my body feels full if hit fuzzing acid from my tummy up to the back of my eyeballs, almost like in a child’s cartoon
