does methotrexate stop your periods, I’m. 5 days late, been on it for 4 months

I don't know about stopping your periods but have you thought it could be the menopause? I'd be inclined to speak to your rheumy nurse or GP

Hi I think it can stop your periods I started on methotrexate at age 42 and never had a period again

At 52 it’s far more likely to be menopause.

I agree with the others, you can't discount menopause. And I know that there is a lot of chatter about symptoms, to the point I have sat in a WI committee meeting when I was in my 30s and all the other members were trying to outdo each other with whose hot flushes were worse. But not everyone has all those symptoms.

I sailed through menopause with no symptoms at all, and my last period at age 57.

I’m 44 and Perimenopausal and have been for years. But I did notice that methotrexate stopped them much more than I was experiencing before I was on it and when I came off it I had a horrendous period and fairly frequent ones since. Could be coincidence as I say I’ve been perimenopause for years

Hi there Elaine, if your RA is still quite new to you etc., then often newly diagnosed patients with RA can have anaemia, lowering their red blood count and that can affect periods making them skip. I hope it gets back on track but could be the the peri, as others have said. x
