Hi I’m due my Covid and flu vaccination and wanted to know if anyone has had this without stopping your methotrexate prior to the vaccination, any advice would be appreciated 😊
Covid vaccination and taking Methotrexate : Hi I’m due... - NRAS
Covid vaccination and taking Methotrexate
There is no issue re having MTX and having the vaccine. The only problem is you will only make roughly half the antibodies you would make if you withheld MTX. The British society of rheumatology advise patients to hold off MTX for 2 weeks after the vaccine, if your condition is stable. There is a study called VROOM which goes into the details.
Hi I had both vaccines a few weeks ago and didn’t stop methotrexate before or afterwards. Felt ok after.
I had both COVID and flu last week. No one mentioned stopping meds. However I'm permanently in a flare so probably too risky. Having said that I barely registered getting it so whether or not it worked is another question.
Good luck with it.
Hi I've had multiple Covid vaccines and these are not live vaccines so no need to stop methotrexate. Just take usual paracetamol! Never had a problem apart from sore arm!
My Rheumy told me not to stop the meth as it was more important to keep things under control.
hi, I was told less than two weeks ago not to stop taking my RA meds just don’t take them the same day as the vaccination. I’m on Benepali injection and oral mtx.
I've been told to stop methotrexate for two weeks post vaccination to improve efficacy of the vaccine
