adalimumab side effects

Have been on adalimumab 2 weekly injections for nearly 3 months.

Have noticed that I am losing an excessive amount of hair each time that I comb my hair.

Also, I have been suffering from swollen legs /ankles over the past month without doing very much at all.

Have previously needed to stop methotrexate and then hydroxychloroquine due to adverse side effects.

Anyone suffering with the same side effects?

Everybody reacts differently to these medications and if something’s not normal for you you should check with either your GP or your rheumatology team, particularly if you are experiencing swollen legs and ankles.

It may very well be that your body is reacting to the Adalimumab and the side effects are manifesting themselves two months on but you can also cook up other entirely unrelated reasons for the symptoms you now have so to be on the safe side get checked out and put your mind at rest. Hope all turns out well..

I don't get these side effects with adalumimab injections. It has been absolutely marvellous for me!

👍 Glad it is working for you and hopefully it will for me in time. Have informed Rheumatologist and see what they advise.

Hi, have been on the same drug for about 18 months now without side effects, I had them with methotrexate and lufluonide though. Guess we all react differently.

Thank you for your kind reply. After emailing rheumatology they have advised to stop adalimumab because apparently the hair loss is a common side effect. Don’t know the alternative until reviewed by Rheumatologist.
