Walking round the close....

sylvi profile image
41 Replies

Well i went for my first walk round the close and felt like i had ran a marathon. I am exhausted now. I keep forgetting i have had major heart surgery. I was only in theatre for an hour yet in that time they repaired my heart. The trouble is i forget i have other health problems to deal with.

I want to thank you all for your lovely messages on my recovery. You are all the best.

Love me.xxxx

Well done Sylvi, but don’t do what you usually do, and over do it! It’s lovely to hear from you this side of your heart problems.

No the terminology has changed we don’t have surgery, major or minor we now according to the NHS when I had my procedure on 20 April have surgical procedures. Apparently it’s less frightening but it didn’t stop my worry. Take it easy it’s taken me two months to get back to normal for me despite having a holiday to rest and recuperate. Don’t stop being active it helps reduce risks of ongoing problems but equally listen to your body saying stop. I find that hard but it’s vital to not just sit and think it’s going to be easy. It might be a good idea to record your activity as even a few steps round the block is progress compared to before your procedure. Xxx

Great to hear you have had a little walk. Just don’t overdo it, it must be hard to think you have had major heart surgery and in no time at all it’s over and you are back walking around. Get lots of rest though.

After I had my second son I ended up having to go back in for a D&C. Got home feeling great and decided I’d join the others for a game of Swingball! Believe me it was a very bad idea - I started bleeding again etc definitely not a good idea - so no matter how perky you feel be sensible and don’t even be tempted to do too much. 💐x

That’s great you are feeling up to going for a short walk but please make sure you don’t overdo it! I’m six weeks post spinal surgery and it’s really hard to stop yourself doing the things you normally do!! My hubby is the voice of reason and tells me off if I’m doing too much! 🤣🤣. Hope the healing process goes well and it’s lovely to see you posting on here again 😁😁 xxx

Good to hear you are feeling able to walk. Don't forget you probably won't be able to walk as fast as you used to. Take it slowly and steadily and take in the beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing the lovely flowers. Colours are stunning. x

My hubby has just told me off for trying to pull a weed out of the garden, so i have come indoors in a huff. I am sure he is right, but it was only a stinging nettle. lol. xxx

Don’t rush your recovery you have had a major operation just think of how long you’ve waited for it to be done and take small steps every other day, rest in the sunshine and enjoy your garden 🌼🌸🌺x
